The President was talking about the historic healthcare overhaul that passed the House 219-212 last night and is now headed to his desk for signature. Let's hope his statement foreshadows what he will say about immigration reform in the months to come. The healthcare battle demonstrated the fight for immigration reform will be tough. But we knew that. Now, at least, we know that an immigration overhaul is possible.

While I have serious questions about a couple of the proposals�the biometric Social Security card raises important privacy concerns for example�I am encouraged that with the passage of healthcare reform immigration will now move to the front burner. Hopefully, Senators Graham and Schumer (and President Obama) took a few minutes Sunday morning to read Tom Friedman's excellent piece in the New York Times about a dinner he attended last week for the finalists of the 2010 Intel Science Talent Search, which, through a national contest, identifies and honors the top math and science high school students in America. http://nyti.ms/aCHxIj. Then the winners of the nine best projects are announced. And finally, with great drama, the overall winner of the $100,000 award for the best project of the 40 is identified. This year it was Erika Alden DeBenedictis of New Mexico for developing a software navigation system that would enable spacecraft to more efficiently "travel through the solar system." After her name was called, she was swarmed by her fellow competitor-geeks.
Gotta say, it was the most inspiring evening I've had in D.C. in 20 years. It left me thinking, "If we can just get a few things right � immigration, education standards, bandwidth, fiscal policy � maybe we'll be O.K." Sorry for the dumb question. My status changed today and it said " On August 14, 2008, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you". Does this mean my greencard approved?

I totally applaud him/her if he is making 300K a year and my advice to him/her is that you should not care wether you have a h1b or not, GC or not etc. Just make sure that you deposit your earnings in swiss banks and whenever USCIS throws you out show them the middle finger and go live in Aruba,. We are all ballless human being if we try to play by the rules of this game of discrimination. My advice is "Go Grab whatever you can"

I got a bunch that has photocopies from my lawyer of everything that went out to USCIS. 485, EAD, AP for myself and my wife.
Everything is ok, except that there is an extra copy of G 28 each for myself and my wife and these extra copies are not signed by attorneys.
In the middle of the package, right above the 485 forms, there are G28 forms that are properly signed. Everywhere else there is signatures where needed. But at the bottom of the bunch, there is extra G28 for each one of us that is missing signature from the attorney.
Could this be a problem? Also, where is the URL for USCIS FAQ that states under what conditions that petitions can boomerang back to us?

My current project is finishing end of this month (Nov) and am not sure if my company will engage me in another project, I work with a offshore model company. If I dont get another project they provide two options work from India or find another company.
I filed for 485 on Jul 19. Got my EAD, 485 receipts, AP is pending. I-140 filed on Feb 28th 2007 at Nebraska and pending.
What are the risks if I move at this time. Company may not revoke I-140, but may not respond to RFE. If I take two months leave .. to buy time and come back (My current H1 stamp in passport expired), can I expect the I-140 to be approved by that time, Or can I apply for a new I140 through the new company and continue the GC processing. Iam in a dillemma as to what will happen as I have only 2 months and odd days left to invoke AC21 and USCIS is currently processing I-140 Nov15 cases as of the last update and mine is Feb'07. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Friends.
I got the pink slip 3 weeks back with one month severance. So my target was to secure the job in one month to avoid loss of pay. Finally secured the job with 3 offers from 3 top companies.
Some tips if it may be helpful to others , that I recently expereinced
1. Read your resume thoroughly and see if there are anything that you can improve and make the resume with the core skills, do not make the resume of mix of different profiles, like dba, architect, project manager, make them all seperate.
2. Try to make the submission to the direct employer or recruiter on top of the chain. You can do that finding contacts on linked in.
3. Do not compromise a lot, this makes these recruiters to think that you are vulnerable for any exploitation, (happened with me, I kicked there butt after getting selected and telling them on why did I do that)

Alright, things are a bit clearer as far as what the numbers on my lens relate to. I was working well on my own in understanding the aperture's operation with the lower the f/number the more light let in and the opposite for the high. Where the light bulb went off over my head from what you explained is the minimum aperture settings in relation to the zoom. That would explain when I have my current lens opened up to 70mm why couldn't stop down to 3.5, I knew there had to be an answer. Thanks Steve, nobody clued me in on that piece of info. I think my next function I'm going to try and master is working with the camera's exposure lock, probably why the sky looks blown out in some of my pics. I'm still up in the air about 28-200mm, maybe I'll sell a kidney and get one that stops 2.8.
OK...so your main interests for this lens are landscape, concert, and sports phototography. First off, when I say the lens is variable aperture from 3.5 to 5.6, that means at the low end f the zomm the aperture will be 3.5. At the long end (200mm) the aperture will be 5.6. The higher the number, the smaller the aperture. The smaller the aperture, the less light gets let in. When less light gets in two things happen, your shutter has to be open longer. and you get more DOF. This will effect your intended shooting situations. Concert photography requires large apertures (smaller f#s). So shooting with that lens in a concert setting will be difficult on the short end, and almost impossible the majority of the time on the long end. 5.6 will require a very slow shutter speed in that circumstance. Same for indoor sports. For landscapes and daylight work, you should not have a problem.....hope this helps a little.

quick update: I received the receipt notices today for EAD Renewal by mail. can't believe it, but truly received for myself and my wife.
Big question is
1.Mine is having case number as LIN08801XXXXX which is fine, because my entire GC process since past 5 years is in Nebraska Service Center. I'm the primary applicant
2.But wife's case number is different, which is NSC08801XXXXX and clearly mentioned in the notice that her case is with national benefits center, Lee's summit MO.( By the way we live in Missouri)
The entries for "Class requested" is shown as C09 in both cases, which i believe correct.
Help:
Has anybody received like this before? if it's normal, i'm not worried
If not, any clues about next steps like do i need to call somebody or call Nebraska ??? a bit worried. any help ???????

On a second thought, since your spouse is filing through ROW, he/she will get his/her greencard faster than you so yeah, you can use your's spouse's I-140 approval and PD to file as a dependent on that application. So please ignore my previous post. I am not aware how I-140 interfiling is done for husband and wife so won't be able to help much on that.
