Cripes... it helps to *read* around a bit before loosing your rag...
Bloggers always go overboard on this stuff. It is clear that Apple is trying to protect their "iPod" brand, not attack "podcast" per se...
See the Zdnet dicussion of this, which includes an excerpt of a letter from Apple which specifically excludes "podcast" as a term they are seeking to protect...

You wish! I'm staying put.
My comment merely points out the sad fact that Harper and his cronies now have free reign to sell off Canada and Canadians to the highest bidder (or corporate donor) all thanks to the sheeple who live here.
"The case against democracy is a 5 minute conversation with the average voter."
$18B surplus to $50B deficit . . .. yeh great job "real" conservatives.
We voted in criminals who flaunt the law, democracy and parliament. There are rocks smarter than us.
Like I said, get out there and fight. Do not be complacent about these people.

You won't get 30% of your electricity back. You'll get up to 30% of the power lost through heat which is accessible to the chip (that is, the portion not lost from convection cooling of the case) and above ambient temperatures. If you're in a warm room, for instance, you'll have much lower performance, since it requires the differential to work. Of course, maybe the information available isn't wholly accurate, but that's my understanding based on the description. Yeah you are in general correct... additionally these types of devices (to date... ones used in the real world) aren't the most efficient devices and require a fairly large temperature gradient.
Hope they can turn out a device for verification.

All correct. Make note, though, the desktop Hammer, which is supposed to be called the 8th generation Athlon, is obviously as stated, 8th generation.

Not an iPad. Not a publicity stunt either they both have a need for a low key meeting so things between them don't get much worse to the merriment of Redmond.

2) Who paid for the coffee? :D
Eric: Wow, Steve. Thanks for buying coffee. What is this?
Steve: It's a magical blend of coffee and flavorings that I special order. It's my own idea. Taste it.
Eric: Delicious! This is your idea? No kidding? It's amazing!
Steve: I'm glad you like it.
Eric: Someone could make a lot of money selling this.
Steve: We're going to start selling it in the Apple Stores next month.
Eric: Really? What's in it?
Steve: Well, here, Eric. I can trust you. I'll write the list of the ingredients down for you.
Eric: Oh good.
Steve: And Eric?
Eric: Yes, Steve.
Steve: If Google introduces their own special coffee blend next month, I'll chop your _____ off.
Eric: Um...
Steve: I'm serious. Snip! Snip! Gone.
Eric: Uh... okay, then... um, never mind the list. Thanks anyway.

It is what I've been saying here for the last year. MR readers are not the target audience for the iPad, and that is why they have been so consistently wrong on the iPad's prospects until market data proves them wrong. We are NOT normal -- we like to hang out on a tech rumor site :)

Grrrrr, I can't decide. Looks like I'll probably get the 32GB.. 399 + $45 taxes. Anyone think $444 worth it for the older 32 or do better deals exist? I'm somewhat convinced since it is new.
I'm debating 16 or 32. It's for the wife to take to the gym with her.

My old flatmate was invited by O2 to take part in a trial of this technology in a nokia phone here in london. The phone had the ability to be an Oyster card (pay for public transport), an instant pay barclay card and to read a series of tags which he was given. Not sure what they were really useful for to be honest, but I guess you could set it up to change settings depending on location.
I think the trial was a success, so it doesn't surprise me that this would be incorporated in the iPhone.

The apple provided tableview cells have their own rules about size and positions of their labels and imageview. If you write a subclass and override layoutSubviews you can adjust the imageview according to your rules.
Ah, I did not know that! Thanks a lot - I will take a look at it in the documentation. I was assuming I could treat it like a normal image and that did not work :-)

http://www.macrumors.com/images/macrumorsthreadlogo.gif (http://www.macrumors.com/iphone/2009/11/05/why-an-rfid-enabled-iphone/)
Multiple reports have come in that Apple is researching (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/11/05/apple-experimenting-with-rfid-enabled-iphone-prototypes/) RFID (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/07/09/new-apple-iphone-patent-applications-surface-object-and-facial-recognition-messaging-voice-modulation/) integration (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/07/02/haptic-feedback-fingerprint-identification-and-rfid-tag-readers-in-future-iphones/) into the iPhone, but some may still be wondering what such functionality would bring to the table for consumers.
Firstly, we should note that RFID is a catch-all term that describes a vast array of technologies and standards. RFID tags can be relatively large and battery-powered, such as ones used in toll collection, to small "passive" tags that can be embedded into credit cards, drivers licenses (called "Enhanced Drivers Licenses" in the U.S.), passports, or stuck onto a piece of merchandise.
Currently, cell-phone usage of RFID technology is centered around Near Field Communication (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Near_Field_Communication) (NFC). NFC has three main usage scenarios: a phone acting as an RFID tag; a phone acting as an RFID reader; and peer to peer communication (P2P).
In RFID tag mode, a phone could be used as a payment device (like a credit card), an identity card, or act as a car key. In RFID reader mode the phone would be able to interact with tags in its vicinity. This article and video (http://www.nearfield.org/2009/04/iphone-rfid-nfc) demonstrates how an iPhone with RFID could use physical objects to control media playback. And in P2P mode, Bluetooth pairing can be streamlined.
These are just a few ways that RFID could be used in an iPhone. When or if it becomes a reality isn't clear, but hopefully now you have a better idea of what the potential is for Apple's research in this area.
Article Link: Why an RFID-enabled iPhone? (http://www.macrumors.com/iphone/2009/11/05/why-an-rfid-enabled-iphone/)
I must say its a great respond from Macrumors team. Many people, including me:D, where wondering what that technology is about. Now I am getting picture.
I think RFID is step forward and good approach from Apple. I understand people's distrust for this technology but if its done properly it can be timesaver in daily tasks.

I don't want a boring DVD. I want Lion to come on one of those cool MacBook Air-style memory sticks, only compatible with ThunderBolt.
Depending on what kind of memory it is that could make for really short installation times. :P

I'm still waiting for apple to address the full screen edit problem. The photo distorts and turns
either green or red when editing the photo especially using the shadow, highlight and sharpness tool. It's been months.

I don't think so.
I think clear photo's showing calipers proves they are the same.
The poor photo's with zero depth of field and a stick off the side to compare thickness doesn't cut it.
Get them to put the calipers to it.
Some Apple big guy says don't believe all the junk your read, and that clinches it for me. It's pretty much an Apple statement telling you that they are the same.
So you still believe engadget on this?
(if there is some production issue like a swelling lipo battery, then I could see thickness issues, but it's a huge mistake if they made it different thickness. What the heck would I do with my iPhone4 dock?)
tipb used calipers and found a difference. Otterbox also says there are compatibility issues. They're in the business of selling cases, they wouldn't tell customers not to buy them for no reason. If it's not supposed to be thicker, then there are a few possibilities I can think of:
1) There was a bad batch that went around. The white iPhone certainly seemed to have its hiccups - many of them came a with a test version of the OS
2) Apple revised *all* iPhone 4s, and the only reason people are noticing a difference is because they compared to a near launch phone. It'd be interesting to compare a black one from the same week.

Seems a bit hypocritical of Buddhist Steve Jobs to be embracing peace on one hand while providing support for the brutal "shock and awe" merchants on the other.
Steve doesn't own the company, the stock holders do.
Those"shock and awe merchants"are people who volunteered to risk their lives to defend their country.

$29, Not a chance. Probably at least $79.
I don't see anything in Lion that would warrant that kind of pricing: some minor UI changes and lots of under-the-hood optimizations...sounds a whole lot like Snow Leopard.
