My MBA Ultimate is perfect for me right now as my sole working machine. This is simply a super balanced laptop for those seeking mobility and reasonable performance. No need for me to fix what's not broken right now.
I won't be jumping in on a SB+HD3000 upgrade, so I will pass on the next update until Ivy comes out (as long as it's paired with a decent GPU and not with a lame HD3000-like).

Ok here is the deal. One can claim that it is cheaper to build a PC. This is true for the most part. However, if you look at Dell or other companies they include software. If you build one you must purchase your own. I would bet, that this guy did not buy XP (I could be wrong) or Office XP or any of his software. Speaking as an ex-PC user I know I didn't. Granted, you have to buy Office for the Mac, Appleworks is pretty good for the average user. But, IMHO building your own PC is not drastically cheaper than a Mac if you do it all legally. Please correct me if I am wrong about this.
When it comes to owning a Mac, I own one not because I hate PC's. I own a Mac because I think it is better technology with more potential that has not even been reached. As an engineer myself, I consider it important to support better technology even if it is not the cheapest solution. If everyone just says hey if it isn't broke don't fix it...we would still have to put up with a less worthy product. People must be willing to support better technology or products with the potential to be great. If not good things die and we are all the losers. Just my 2 cents.

In-app purchase can be disabled using parental control. This is stupid. I expect my tax to be used by my government to tackle bigger problems, oh maybe like jobs and the economy, not to appease some idiot "parents."
You are completely right. I would also like to say that the distinction between in app purchases and in game purchases is very clear, the only step that must be taken is for parents to teach their children the difference. As time goes on it seems that more and more people believe that the solution to all their problems is government action. There are many cases where government intervention is required, however, when there is such a simple solution it is illogical for government to get involved.
You are completely right. On the other hand, you are using ONLY the Consumerist (and a couple blogs that are blindly parroting the Consumerist without doing any research of their own), and just telling me I HAVE to beleive the consumerist because YOU say it's "well-respected." Well, *I* never really respected the Consumerist, because it has a history of blindly following sensationalist leads and has a marked anti-corporate leaning. I'm more inclined to respect sources that are objective and don't have a mission that blatantly compromises that objectivity. So sorry, you'll have to find additional evidence. Why you have so much invested in convincing people that AT&T is blocking iPhone sales - and only online - for network resource control, is beyond me. And the fact that you need to sell it so hard that it "pisses [you] off" that someone would challenge your thin and faulty argument kinda confirms you don't really have a leg to stand on.

I looked into the 360 Arcade version and balked immediately because it sounds like something for people who never want to save a game.
The Arcade units have built in 256MB for game saves, so that isn't an issue. Of if you need more space, any USB drive can be formatted to use as well.

It's up to innovative schools to decide whether, and how, iPads have a role in schools. They might have good uses in classrooms, libraries, labs, reading clubs, alongside computers, instead of computers, or who knows.
Oh FFS, c'mon. No they're not. It's a locked-down, uni-tasking, big-ass ipod. Kids are gonna be carrying round something similar in their pockets. Computing isn't the amazing thing it was to us as kids, youths take this **** for granted so a big reader/web browser will interest them for literally seconds. Try and impart some intelligence on this argument cos so far I still haven't heard a good reason for the ipad's existence.

Here in the UK the amount of tax is based upon the CO2 emissions from a car, so larger engines generally incur a higher penalty. However, if you are insistent on buying a large expensive 4x4 for example, I don't think the amount of tax is really going to put you off.
I pay �125 per year for a 2.0 litre TDI
Vehicle Excise Duty should be put on fuel, not based on the car; it's not the car you drive, it's the amount of fuel used - a driver using 2 gallons in a small car versus another using 1 gallon in a large car.
As mentioned, if they can tax it then they will - electricity, hydrogen ...
