RFID is insecure. The british RFID passports have been cracked within less than 48 hours, the German test ones in less than a day. I wouldn't trust RFID for any important and sensible information like payment services. It's fine for stuff like tracking packages or my skiing card - but that's it.
And why is it insecure that a passport encryption has been cracked?
Every passport has it's unique number and personal details, so even if a forgerer created a new passport to sell to some guy with shifty eyes the passport number returned when read would reveal the passport as false.
I really cant understand the fright towards new technologies, yes sure, all in all, we are headed towards a future where tracking ppl becomes easy, but we've been down that road since we got social security id/personal numbers at birth.
In the case with a RFID NFC reader in the iphone, your personal integrity has not been compromised beyond any extent compared to what it was before.
This tech makes life easier and is not endangering our personal integrity anymore than it already is.

I do wish people in this forum stop referring to 'the military' as though they were some sort of alien life-forms. 'The military' are people, and even if you happen to be in the oh-so-unique moral high ground of opposing war and violence from your comfortable desk, soldiers deserve the best kit we can afford to give them. Ok... here is what is coming:
its not going to be a 'normal cel phone', its going to work ONLY via wireless internet connexion. Why? this is the only way for Apple to compete againts the other distributors. Apple doesnt have the network and all suppliers will see them as a threat. So by using the internet, they are free from the competitors.
Think about it! Why would Apple release a 'normal' phone? If they make a phone, its going to be the most innovative phone that can be and what else is better than a phone that doesnt cost anything per month with free and unlimited calls?

This is a good classic take on contrast. B&W landscape really brings out the contrast and textures.
I have a second entry I took today. I found this burned out stump filled with a pool of water reflecting the sky. I saw it and realized it had all 4 "elements" in it.

So how would me exercising my right to refuse to sell X to Y infringe upon Y's "rights"?Y has a right under your Constitution to be treated equally to anybody else. There's a reason why it'd be easier to make an AWS iPhone than a CDMA iPhone; CDMA is pretty much monopolized by Qualcomm, so if Apple wanted a CDMA iphone it'd probably cost quite a bit to make.
Of course, Apple could simply buy out Qaulcomm. I kinda look forward to the day Steve walks out on stage and starts bragging about Verizon's awesome coverage areas lol.
AWS isn't AFAIK monopolized by anyone and should be as easy to do as current GSM is. (I may be wrong)

What do you guys mean no student discount?
Is that only on launch day or is that a permanent thing now at Regent street? First it's the iPods that don't have any student discount and now the OS? That's a little too harsh don't you think?
Here's why, it's something like �75 on their Apple.com/uk for students, but if you look at the US Student price it's only $65, so..... I'm getting screwed either way!! With or without student discount it's WAY too expensive in the UK.
Ok, so, when I saw the line of people circling the entire building, I was more impressed about that and wanting to know JUST how long the line of people actually was than getting Leopard. See, I can just pick it up from anywhere else if need be or today at apple or tomorrow... I don't need the insane people trying to cut in and giving me attitude when I can simply wait a few days and then get it nice and calmly.
Anyway, I think Apple should have opened up their apparels store again. With so many people buying apple products so enthusiastically, why not open up a section in Apple store for, T-Shirts, watches, badges, stickers, pins you name it. Like they once had. I think it would sell very well, if only they'd do that.

It is surely embarrassing for Apple that a 3rd party developer can write an app that will download and upload from the iDisk far faster than their own Finder.
If I'm going to iDisk, I use Transmit. Otherwise it's not worth it.

There is a chance that we could still see a 3.5" screen, but with less features and a smaller case (less bezel/thinner). However that would make the 3GS (since they keep last years model as the low-end) somewhat pointless.
