I totally agree with you...recently I moved to CA and it took me close to 2 months before I had 3 offers...I can see it can be frustating, distracting but keep +ve and it will be rewaded.
Recently I got laid off and I worried on how long it would take me to find a job, Here is my situation:-
* I have a green card
* Severance package I received is 7 months
* Skills - MS computer science, 6 years full time experience in financial industry. SQL server 2000, C# (mid level programmer), solid communication skills
* I live in New York, open to find a job in tri state area (or ideally would like to move to bay area)
* I have two kids, Wife is not working
* My salary expectations - 110k+
Any suggestions on how to get motivated ? Every where news is really bad and there are only few openings - what are best ways to explore the opening's ? please let me know your job search experience

I saw that priority date for EB2 (all other countries) now is current, while for EB3 is May 2005.....
Does it mean that when my LC is ready I will have to wait my priority date for approximately 3 years?

hi i have a question here:
suppose some x's labour PD date is 2004 August and some Y's PD date is 2006.
Y Applied I-485 on July2nd 2007 and X applied on Aug10th 2007.
so whose application processed first? is x's or Y's for final GC process.

As per USCIS trend, Z's application would be processed first and finally A and B will get the GC.

There is an issue. You have to make a trip to the local police station every six months to register your child. If you're lucky, the officials will be polite and helpful and do this without fuss. But knowing India very well, they're more likely to create a fuss till you've bribed them. Also, now they know where your child lives and the fact that he/she is a US citizen. Who knows, what kind of people they will pass on this information to...
Conspiracy theories aside, the whole procedure reeks of the way sex offenders have to register with the police in the US - I just don't like it.
So this Police station registration is if the child starts to live in India or when the child visits India? Where is this rule documented?
If such rules exist, then there should be a formal complaint with the nearest Consulate General. They are reasonable people.

You can extend your h1 by 1 year, if you labor has been pending more than 1 year. 3 year extension is allowed when you have the approved I-140.
If your labor is pending 180 days you can apply for a 1 year visa extension. If you get your I-140 approved under premium processing after your labor approval and before you visa expires you can apply for a 3 year visa extension. You can apply for any other new visa L, J, F etc., and continue to stay inside the country but not H visa otherwise you have to be outside the country for 1 year.

Cake - that is by design. Place the contents of your grid inside a ViewBox control (WPF only I believe). Once you have done that, you will see the contents of your grid scale as its height gets altered.

As a nation of immigrants,the United States has relied on students,professors,and researchers who came from abroad to study and remain ,but in a "flattening" world offering expanding opportunities,their numbers are decreasing.In addition,not enough young people in this country are being excited and prepared to pursue careers in science and engineering.
These factors,in combination with the decreasing federal commitment to funding basic research,are what President Jackson describes as "quiet crisis"

Hello,
My brother-in-law and sister are both Indian Doctors, having a private practice in INDIA. They would like to apply for visitor's visa.
Any suggestion about the problems they may encounter? Do they have to go on two differrent dates for getting the visa stampped at Chennai?

They can apply together as Husband and wife. They will have to go through the normal procedure for a visitor visa B-2. The important thing will be to prove their non-immigrant intent to the consular officer and that they WILL return to INDIA after their temporary stay.
I would say it is a 50 -50 chance given their profile.

If they were honest, they would publish processing dates by country of chargability, since it is apparent to me that they are giving preference to EB2 ROW cases.

I am not sure why you all are all so worried about finger printing. No one is getting their GC anytime soon. PD for both EB2 and EB3 is either unavailable or in 2001. Even if FP takes a little while, don't worry.
I have a friend who never got finger printed till he got his GC. So relax.

a lot of desi consultants are made to pay for h1 and gc costs. especially in NJ by the "Jersey boys".
i am also in the situation where if i quit i'll have to pay the company all the costs of the GC. some of you have also paid the company for h1 costs.
i asked an immigration lawyer about this.
this practice is illegal and basically to intimidate you.
the company got you here justifying your presence as being good for business (the said they could not find your skillset here). and they are taking tax deductions on this spending.
since they got you here for their good (we know that!), they have to bear all these costs. if they ask you to bear it, it is illegal and they are commiting immigration and labour fraud.
