If 3600 have been approved, then between 7200 and 9000 numbers have already been consumed based on an average of 2 or 2.5. Take your pick. We have only completed 4 business days in August. At this rate we'll blow through the 20,000 numbers in less than ten days. That means EB2 becomes U in Sept and it makes 2006 approvals look even more egregious.

They have no reason to retrogress the dates severely even if they consume most of the visas. It is not as if there are thousands waiting to apply for I-485 in Sep.
I may also be totally wrong - Maybe that's why they are working the PDs backwards, to maximize retrogression - just kidding

You also might try a less busy background - the stripes are a little distracting. You could fuzz them with a wider aperture (a 50mm f/1.8 is cheap and good for portraits or when out shooting random subjects). Have you tried converting this one to B&W? Sometimes that's more pleasing with high contrast.

What a difference a fraction of a second can make... In this case the goose subject has decided to ruin the photo for me by relieving himself in-flight... Fortunately he did not pass overhead...

I'll be applying for my wife's and my visa stamping and therefore did some research on this issue myself. I believe that we'll need to print out DS-160 as well and take it to the consulate, the same way we did with previous forms. We can, therefore, write our names (or whoever is the applicant) in our native language on it.

I have registered on USCIS website for I-485, AP and EAD. When I logged on today I saw last updated date modified to 11/25/2007.
Email notification for all the registerd cases is turned on. I did not receive any email notification for the updates
Just wondering if some one else in the same boat not receiving emails.

This is a very genuine concern. I being the only son have worries on the same lines too. Although my parents are healthy and doing fine at this time but I get really get tensed to fathom what is there down the line in another 5 years or so. Bringing them here is not an option, medical insurance will not cover pre-existing condition neither is there any visa other than B2. Two options come to my mind:
1) I take up job which requires lot of travel, back-and-forth to India.
2) I move for good to India.
3) Look for a full-time nurse to be available to take care of them and I travel to India once in every 3 months, may be just for a week or so each time.
All three options put a dent in your life. But I guess the golden period of life is over, remaining period of life will go raising your kids, looking after your parents. Sometimes I like the American culture a lot; you get to enjoy all life long!

Hi, Looks like several of us have got glitches here and there on the I 485. As I mentioned in my post, the customer service persons at CIS told me to make correction after getting the receipt.
I suggest that each of us call the customer service just to verify whether the responses are consistent. I called 2 times and the responses were largely consistent.
The rationale for this proposed strategy is that customer service people sometimes are impatient and really do not answer questions appropriately. This seems to be a common problem with over-the-phone customer service.:mad:

Like it or not, AR11 is mandatory and it could even lead to deportation for violating the AR11 requirements. A fear of a RFE should not be the factor to stop filing AR11. File it and be safe.
485 RFEs are not very complicated from what I have seen unless you have something wrong with your filing, you have nothing to be afraid of.

Currently working for ABC company with L1B visa, which expiring in Dec 19th 2008 and i am here in USA now along with my dependents.
But this year i got my H1B approval and having my documents, as my filing was done from India, i do not have I-94 at this time.
My quires are.
1. Do i need to go for stamping in Canada or Mexico
2. Can i work for company B with my H1B approval
3. To start my new job, do my employer should change my status
4. If going for stamping do my dependents also should join me.
Actually i have very short time to make my plans , please help in finding solutions for all my quires.

I have an entirely different opinion than what is mentioned above; so please read carefully:
I understand that you are currently working on L1B visa and want to switch to H1b from Dec 19th. Your H1 petition is already approved.
1. If your H1 approval notice (form I 797) has I-94 attached to it, that means it came with CHANGE OF STATUS. In that case you can simply start working from the start date mentioned on attached I 94 (will need new I 9 filed with employer; showing the change of status from that date as well).
Now, your dependents will need to be on H4 status. Was their change of status filed along with your H1? If so and they all have H4 approval notice with attached I 94; they are ok and none of you need to go out of US for visa stamping.
If you or your family do not have change of status (and therefore no attached I 94), change of status can even be filed now from within US; if that was not filed with original H1 petition; But you must file it before you can start working on H1.
Another option is to go to Canada or Mexico for stamping for yourself and the family members; this is especially a good option if your education is from within US (something they can verify); if not they can ask you to go back to India to do so.
So all depends on two things:
1. Does your H1 approval notice have I 94 attached to it? what is the start date on that I 94?
2. Do all your family members have H4 approval notice along with I 94 attached?
If not; you either have to file change of status (and also H4 status for dependents if not already done) from here OR you have to get the visa stamped.

I have a question, I am working with my GC sponsoring employer, filed I485 during July '07. My I-140 approved during 2007. My company has applied for H1B extension (for 3 years based on approved I140) recently. Please note that this 3 year extension will stretch beyond my 6 year (H1B) period.
+ You will receive a 3 year extension only if the PD is retrogessed otherwise it will be upto your end of 6 years period. I assume this is a non-cap H1B extension of stay
After the approval for 3 years, can I transfer the H1B to another employer? Since this extension is based on approved I140, is it legal to transfer that H1B to a different employer? (I have used the terms ‘extension’ and ‘transfer’ just for understanding purpose. I am aware that I will be getting new H1B (non-cap) every time).
