The microsoft usability tax costs even more, in wasted time and low productivity.
+1 I work fixing windows desktops and servers for a living and companies pay me pretty good to do it.
Not to mention Microsoft doesn't make the hardware, they simply sell the software. There is no such thing as "Apple Tax". If you get a Windows machine that is on par with the quality of a Mac machine then you will pay roughly the same, if not more for your computer.
Mentioning many OS X users use antivirus is useless, as anyone is in the conversation is able to decide not to run antivirus on OS X.
As for greater performance on OS X vs Windows 7 you'd need to compare software on both platforms, but since the best things on OS X don't run on Windows 7, I can't see many comparisons worth wild. (although this is personal, if you want Windows 7 software, go for it!)
I use Maya extensively on both platforms as well as Photoshop and Mac OSX runs them both faster. Photoshops difference isn't very big obviously but Maya is a pretty good difference during render times. Same exact hardware too.

My Macpro is shipping tomorrow, I wonder if they will do the update since it's still technically in their hands.

They placed a hold on my order until Tuesday while verifying my educational status, then sent me a notice the next day (Wednesday) telling me that my order is being processed. The military and the Army has had a "dialogue" with Apple for years... pretty much every project involving a piece of field equipment has gone to another manufacturer because of durability concerns.
The U.S. Military has been using Apple Computers for years. I know for a fact they were crucial in the development of RFID tracking used in logistics. They were also more difficult to hack into and required less IT support to maintain them in the field.

The "far east country" (or at least one of them, more earlier) is Australia. The "convention" field listing country TT (Trinidad and Tobago) application 37090 confirms that the Ocean Telecom Services LLC is in all likelihood an Apple shell corporation.

The only thing I'm missing on my 11" MBA is an SD card slot. I use my MBA 80% for pictures and video. I use a Wifi SD card now but away from home the SD slot would be great.

When I used a PC I used to use Cool Edit Pro, which then changed to Adobe Audition. So I'm delighted that they are creating a new product, particularly as I hate the only other real contender - Bias Peak.
I've been using Audacity, but it just not advanced enough sometimes.

If the hardware isn't that much different from the iPad 2 then why would they give it to devs early?
Same question I had. Just run the game at 960x540 on the iPad 2 to simulate running the game. Even if it's clocked differently, they can approximate that too. Only difference would be if they stuffed more RAM in the iPhone 5/4s, which I doubt.

Depends on the state. I pay $25 a year to renew my license plates, and then around $400 a year in personal property tax (that number depends on the value of the car, my car is 2 years old so it's pretty high). Some states have a higher license plate fee and no personal property tax.

It's only been a bit of fun, but the homeless charity Shelter have received a large slice of cash in the process (http://www.justgiving.com/ratm4xmas) and are due to get more from RATM themselves.

Wow, all the critical reviews to pay or not to pay, pre installed or dl on the fly. As I see it, both have draw backs as mentioned, but my general pref, is that it should dl at least your surrounding area. So Garmin (39.99), Tom Tom (39.99), Navigon (44.99), Google (free), Motion X ($2.99) etc. for US major apps.
And yet not one sole mentions Map Quest 4 Mobile (free), dl on the fly and I have never had an outage issue.
I do prefer a stand alone gps though. Therefore I don't see spending more for a secondary gps/backup on my mobile.
And for what its worth, currently using a Garmin 265WT, with traffic. I do have some slant toward Garmin as I use a eTrex Vista. On the iPhone I have all the bold apps. I prefer the Map Quest of all the boldfaced ones.

All Apple software and hardware can be demoed for free at any Apple store. I have brought in cameras, printers, monitors, etc... and was allowed to test them and demo them before I purchased. It's an amazing place go visit sometime.

That said, I may pick up a current gen MBA based simply on the fact that it's a known entity with a generally positive and proven reputation. The hypothetical Sandy Bridge MBA could end up being a great product too, but then again it could be a flawed wreck. Only time will tell.

If the resolution stays the same, and it probably will, then no big deal. Even if it changes, most apps dynamically lay out their user interface and will just work. Apps already need to deal with 2 resolutions (3 if you count iPad).
The user interface guidelines for web apps recommends using the system screen size variables instead of hard coding numbers, so most web apps should just work.
A lot depends on the app, but really it shouldn't be a big deal for most apps. It would be trickier if they were pushing a micro screen format like the new Nano.

Based on Apple's vascilating attitude over the last year, I'm taking a wait and see position.
I'm very happy to witness their success, yet it's too bad they've chosen to dampen what should be a great celebration, by acting as though they've got to go on the attack with law suits.
In the last year they've launched more suits than any other company in the industry.

yes, the ps3 can fold. just remember to join team 3446! and your ps3 should get around 900-1000 ppd (points per day)
i'll be getting more involved with this as soon as my electricity supplier has finally changed, should be a couple of weeks, my current love overcharging me for leaving things running 24/7.
i'll also try and sort out the software for my ps3, i barely use that so it'd prolly out do my computer looool
