While I-485 is pending, how to change spouse's last name?. For that matter, how to change spouse's last completely in every agency(like ssn, paychecks, credit cards, green card, passport, drivers license). Is this list complete?. which one should i start first?.thanks

Hi. I realized that I made a mistake when filling out the I 485 Part Three:
I posted this at the wrong spot initially. Sorry.
I made a mistake on the I485 form Part Three Processing Information. Specifically, I filled in the I-94 number issued for my H1B as the "Nonimmigration Visa Number", instead of the visa number I got when I was still in F1 Student status.
I called USCIS twice and they informed me that I can make corrections after I get the receipt--I can send in a corrected form, along with a letter explaining the correction, and also a copy of the receipt.
I was wondering whether anyone here had done that before.
I am kicking myself for misunderstanding the form! Please help!

What if he's working for a decent company, and the company had a LC available because one of their employees left? What would they do with the LC other than offer it to another deserving employee? And why shouldn't "sts_seeker" take it if it was offered through perfectly legal channels?
You guys have a problem when DOS/USCIS does something illegal. But you have a problem even when "sts_seeker" and his/her company did something perfectly legal!
Your fellow senior members "nixstor", "tikka", "ramus", etc are working hard to get people to contribute to IV. And here, you are driving new members (and potential contributors) away?

If the govt can lobby for nuke bill, why they cannot do it for techs?
Govt well know that a big chunk of money is gonna come from NRIs and even bigger will come from future NRIs. To sustains India's growth they need it big time.
In my opinion it would be a good idea to seek Govt of India's help..

I had received response to 140 stating pending background name check.
Here is the exact lines
"USCIS is awaiting the results of your pending background name check. The USCIS is unable to predict when a background check might be completed. so they ask us to wait 120 days before initiating another inquiry."
I am not sure whether this is related with IBIS check or name check or background check. If its an IBIS check EAD also got the same check and my EAD has been renewed twice. My FP was done in Nov 07 and after 2 days of FP my appln was transferred from TSC to NSC
Anyway I will wait for another 120 days

One of my friends got GC without any problems.He got substitution labor.
Another friend (who didn't changed his employer) got RFE asking for employment verification letter.But many of his friends got GCs even after changing employer without any RFE.
USCIS really rocks :D:D:D

Well optimism and positive thinking is the only way up in life mate. Anyways we all know wht happened last year wherer so many people got there ead in a year from first stage. There were lucky hope v r too. Thats the optimism.
The way u r replying seems to be u r one of those in that frustated waiting list. I only can wish u the best.
