It seems that most people are not aware of the fact that 30 is large enough sample for almost any population, and that the main challenge is not in increasing the sample size, it's in making it truly random.
This. You want a simple random sample, a sample size greater than 30, and a population size greater than ten times your sample size.
As a statistician, it always simultaneously amuses and disappoints me when people say "xxx isn't a large enough sample size!"
Usually the sample size is completely adequate, and it's only that the sampling technique was flawed. It's extremely difficult to get an unbiased sample when doing a survey.
By the way, why is everyone saying people in the Midwest don't buy iPads? I live in the Midwest and will be getting an iPad 2 soon. Yes...probably Verizon.

Is it normal for it to take 45 minutes to export a 9-minute video via quicktime? I'm working off a desktop OSX and am a total novice at movie making.

Even Final Cut Pro will only use ONE core of your CPU (I hope to goodness their new update finally addresses that blunder of all blunders of all time). Handbrake is like 3x faster than Final Cut Pro even with ONE core, let alone many. But don't blame Apple. They've been far too busy updating iOS to bother with making OSX apps faster, update graphics drivers or the OpenGL libraries or generally do anything that makes OSX better than Windows these days. Phones are far more important than Macs. :rolleyes:

Try going to settings->application settings
Once the page loads, go to the drop down box and select "allowed to post"
Find farmville and click edit settings and you can change it there.
Also, on the news page you can go and click the hide next to any farmville news, then you can select Hide Farmville. This will prevent it from showing up in the news feed.

I agree with some previous posts but I'll expand upon them...
If Apple infringed, they should pay, but the better alternative would be to buy Kodak, slowly shut them down (they're already slowly shutting down), then make RIM pay Apple! HAHA!
And in the process, Apple gets tons of patents, plus they can once again sell Apple branded printers and digital cameras again, something they haven't done for quite some time. The original Apple digital cameras were made by Kodak anyway. Then Apple could drop some other brands from Apple Stores and keep almost the entire purchase an all-Apple purchase.

Its just a bit of fun.
Some kid just probably thought it would be a laugh to make a facebook group and see what happens.... and its blown up.
And I think its great, and shows the power of Joe Public and the internet.... but thats just my point of view.
Plus the group has rasied loads of money for charity which is good.
People who look at this as anything more than a bit of fun are morons.

No PPC version... man, thats going to hurt sales somewhat. Adobe should remember the mass of Apples customers are PPC users, and most people still have machines around 5-6yrs old. Cutting them out the loop is harsh, not to mention those who own newish G5's.

I really don't think it's an iPad. Given how it appears to be a bright and sunny day and how much light can be seen reflecting off of most other surfaces, the "iPad's" surface seems too matte.

I set my NAS boxes up with a static IP address, then mount them automatically (using login items) and they've never had a problem connecting....sounds like your NAS's IP adress might have changed (using DHCP means they won't necessarily get the same IP address every time) from when you set up the login item to the next time you tried to mount it.

Their entire careers depend on maintaining an OS that needs constant maintenance. Windows is inherently broken, and an entire industry grew up to take full advantage of exactly that. Too funny.
Anyone who knows anything about IT knows that "Windows" is not "broken". It's just extremely "breakable". :p The fact that a million ppl try to write viruses to steal money from the million banks that use it and have a billion customers that use it doesn't help either. But that's where professional security IT comes in. Not even a Mac is "immune" to this, so pro Mac IT should use security too.
The reason why carreers are made on "maintaining Windows" is because it's POWERFUL. Why would a group of engineers, developers, and MBA's constanty buy an OS that is > 3x more costly than a Mac OS...just up front? And require numerous certifications beyond a "CS degree" to upkeep? And this is just the "desktop" version, never mind the server version which is the leader in the server industry. No...it's NOT u/linix sorry...because "web page servers" are not the only computers in data centers!
The only "entire industry who grew up to uptake Windows" is the average person who tried to copy what they used for work...and in some cases, the software packages from "IT friends". They may be stuck with something they can't handle if they aren't careful about downloading porn, but it still doesn't change the fact that Windows is much more powerful and hence requires much more "computer-savviness" to use on average.

Yes - all they've decided to do is REVIEW it. They've overturned nothing. And the overturn rates are very low.
It's still on, no matter what you try to spin it as. A review is a review. This is the same as when an appeals court decides to hear a case, they haven't overturned anything until they've overturned something. But they can't overturn something without first REVIEWing it. ;)
