And the first rule of investing is, if a little company 'leaks' the 'fact' that they are 'in discussion' with a major market company, it means they have nothing.

If they were in serious discussions, there would be non-disclosures.

I could be in discussion with Universal about starring in their latest blockbuster movie. I sent them a letter, they sent a rejection form letter. Voila, discussion.

The issue with using such a device in a laptop or whatever, is that there must be a temperature gradient -- that is, there has to be a hot end and a cold end. The hot end is a given, a processor. But you still have to cool the other end of the device, so you still have to have fans/radiators/or whatever to draw heat away from the cold end for the effect to work. Doesn't change the fundamental problem of cooling a machine with limited space and power.

As mentioned earlier, if you want to ACTIVELY cool a CPU with these, it takes the application of a boatload of electricity to do it.

I understand what most of you are saying, and for the most part agree. I'm still using my D70s, and getting pics that still get compliments from people. On the other hand, I've been wanting a 70-200 for a while now. Not sure if this falls under the superfluous 'let's-buy-more-gear' mentality, or the 'i-want-to-try-new-type-of-vision' mentality.

    What do you think?

I've been doing most of my hobby with an 11-16 and 35mm.

You deserve another, longer lens for sure.

Who cares??? its a $500 device that can replace all computer needs of any student. Period.

    HAHA!

    Any student? No. Just No.

Please engage some sort of thought process before you make statements as ludicrous as this.

I'm glad there's someone who remembers that. I find it amazing that so many Mac fanatics are so out of tune with the rest of the world that they never even realized that Win98 came out at the same time and is why USB is where it is. You don't see Apple making claims that they were first or created the USB market. People need to get out more so to speak.

Remember folks Intel developed USB. It was on motherboards for previous years. It was destined to happen. They just needed MS to develop a decent OS to handle it(Win95 2.1 only had partial USB support) and products to take advantage of it. Developers came onboard once they saw MS get onboard with Win98. You wouldn't have seen the iMac USB support you saw if it wasn't for Win98.

Sorry to go off on a tangent but I get tired of people making false claims with misinformation. Remember folks being a fanatic is ok but know your enemy. ;)

What a waste of taxpayers money. Here is a great idea, learn to be a parent!

I'll second that, maybe if Mommy and Daddy were doing there parenting duties Tax payers dollars would not be wasted because of the bad parenting.

A touch- or proximity-sensitive home button would cause enormous grief. Just imagine playing a game in portrait mode. Move your thumb too close to the home button and boom: back to the home screen. Unacceptable.

I work for a large telecom company and was installing home internet service for a customer that had an iPhone. When I asked if he wanted me to set up his wifi for him he said sure. When I looked at it the top right hand corner said T-mobile. I looked at the phone and said to myself T-Mobile? Then just carried on. So now looking at this article makes me think that they are actually testing it on their network. I don't know what to think of it actually.

Carrier logos on the iPhone are in the top left corner. As a forum newbie I will tell you folks around here are sticklers for having your facts straight. You didn't see anything special ... Just an unlocked iPhone on T-mobile just like the one I have had since 2007!

Holy ****ing ****. I had no idea you could do that. I have the iPad app, but i didn't know there was a remote function. I thought it was like the phone app where you could only set your DVR with it.

    Wow!

    People still use satellite TV?

I want to put my O Brother, Where Art Thou? cd onto iTunes!! but I don't want to have all 15 artist names in the browser!

Is there any tips out there or do I just have to delete each name and just call it O Brother, Where Art Thou? so I can have it all under 1 artist - if you no what I mean??

I don't want a boring DVD. I want Lion to come on one of those cool MacBook Air-style memory sticks, only compatible with ThunderBolt.

Yea! And limit their new OS to about 20% of their users.

I know there's no real estate for it, but I wouldn't complain it if had a dedicated Ethernet port.

They could very easily do it like the VAIO X-

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/typo3temp/pics/1d9b969832.jpg

Flip it down to use it, flip it back up to maintain its thinness. It works because all the Ethernet pins are one side only.

Works well on my X128. (that thing is as thin and way lighter than the Air btw so don't say it isn't possible because it's heavier or thicker or anything)

Apple included the Ethernet adapter on the last gen Air- why did they cheap out and leave it out for the new generation?

    Get a 13" MBP.

Why should one have to compromise on weight, thinness and portability when the above solution is possible?

That is hiding specs from people that would really like to know. That is the people who read the spec sheets and have good reason to do so. Little things add up be it the RAM in an iPhone/iPad, what the SD slot is capable of or any of a number of other devices that are poorly speced on the machine. Is it that difficult to just be honest with your users? Further where is the advantage of not coming clean?

And you managed to spin something positive into a negative... bravo!

By the way -- this wasn't too hidden. On page 28 of the user guide:
    Using SD Cards
The SD card slot on the back of your Mac mini accepts most standard SD (Secure Digital), SDHC (SD High-Capacity), and SDXC (SD Extended Capacity) cards from digital cameras and other devices. You can also use MiniSD, MicroSD, and other smaller cards in a passive adapter. For more information about card sizes, speeds, and capacities, search for “SD” on the Apple Support website at www.apple.com/support.

    Two questions:

    1) Is that an iPad on the table?
    2) Who paid for the coffee? :D

    -Kevin

    1) Duh. If it were Android based, it would have coffee on it.
    2) "Who cares how they get it". LOL

When Apple aired those Intel ads of the Intel fab plant talking about dull PCs, a lot of PC users got angry over that. There was quite a backlash against Apple when they do negative advertising like that, simply making PC users look stupid (which they are of course ;)). It harkens back to the days, post-1984 ad, when they shown PC users as lemmings walking off a cliff. Hehe. :)

I have used a Moto Xoom. Honeycomb requires you learn a new user interface. Instead of a nice seamless experience where you can get right in to using apps, you have to learn about the literally 3 or 4 different ways to trigger, dismiss, and access apps. If they're utilities, they're accessed one way. If they're apps, you've got an app menu and a desktop-style metaphor to try-- either works. It's confusing as hell. I mean, you can LEARN anything, but why would you want to.

Bottom line-- a Xoom is $800, it's far less functional, and it's far more confusing to use.

I would bet by the time Apple gets done with him he will probably be broke. Assuming that is where the stolen goods are coming from, i would assume it's their property he is selling. To bad.
