Apple can conquer any resolution problems. The only thing they can't fix is how much people bitch.

I wonder what breaks more often, the hard drives fitted in the classic or the fragile touch screens of the iPod touch?
I know many people who've had iPod hard drives crap out on them. I don't know anyone who has an iPhone or Touch who has actually cracked their screen.

IMHO the white leaves different marks that are just as back...after awhile ull get a bunch of scuff marks that make the finish look more greyish brown...this is why i hated iBooks

There are still more than 500 Radio Shack's left? Can't believe they're not out of business yet lol! If it's anything like the iP4 launch, expect them to get 2-3 iPads a week.

in order to continue their growth, they're have to get into even more niche markets, while expanding their mainstream markets.
SZ--please explain. It seems that even a small increase in the mainstream would overshadow a large gain in niche markets. If Apple increases mainstream market share why do they need the niche markets?

The sort of money you put down on a Mac you shouldn't expect anything less than USB 3.0 from here on out. Core 2 Duo in 2010 leaves a lot to be desired.
This is pretty academic, since you've always paid a premium for the Apple logo. Rarely does a Mac laptop have cutting edge hardware across the board (see the graphics cards in laptops for an example of something that seems always a generation or more behind). The sad reality is that even though you're right, they'll continue to sell those laptops at a prodigious rate. Most people don't care about technical specs as much as they do the overall user experience.

I wonder if someone is going to sue Best Buy as a result of this ad? The ad does mention that there is a limited quantity and no-rain checks. I think they probably should have placed in small text to call ahead for availability.
The fact that it appears to be ploy to get people to come in and give them money to reserve one is not going to sit well with a lot of people. I personally hope it backfires on them and makes people not want to go to their store. Who knows? Maybe this will lead them down the same path that happened to Circuit City.

When they come out and we both buy one, can we have a little MacRumours party topic? We can dance all night long! ;)
I would be so happy!
I'll wait for the Media Centre Edition to ship - that's one of the "super secret" parts of OSX 10.5 that hasn't been shown.

I think they are using the "we don't want this to get out into the wild" thing as a scam. If you do it in person people might actually ask questions like 1) Why not use the built in wireless card? ('cause we're not good enough to hack that) 2) What are the security settings on the Mac? (everything open and enabled, making it childs play to "hack" in 3) Why would anyone ever use a USB external wifi-card with a MacBook? (They wouldn't - this is about as hypothetical a "hacK" as there ahs ever been).
I completely agree. It would be a big surprise to me that any method of connecting to an OS X Mac would allow it to be controlled without specific permissions granted by the administrator account, suggesting these guys left the account open on purpose or allowed remote access with the password known. In other words, once you access the computer you still have to get the operating system to give you permission to screw around.
On the other hand, if this exploit is actually true, it doesn't really matter who's driver is to blame: somehow they were able to subvert OS X's security. THAT would be an issue for Apple and for all of us.
All things considered, I don't believe they did what they claim they did.

Are you satisfied with your Beats by Dre ?
i LOVE them! they're by far the best headphones i've ever had, although the bass does seem kind of exaggerated at times but this is perfect for me as i love lots of bass. the sound leak isn't too bad unless you're playing them at full volume but because of the sound isolation you never really need to turn it up all that much.

I doubt it since this is the World Wide DEVELOPERS Conference...I wouldnt classify an imac as a developmental machine.
Although they did give all the developers who 'rented' the 'Intel Development Kit' from WWDC '05 a Intel iMac when they were released in January. ;)
Also, kids, this is what we should be discussing:

If Apple OC doesn't come up with a solid reason as to why Canada or the US need to maintain a large standing military with enormous costs (such as threat level etc.) I am going to call troll.
Cheers,
Ahmed
I can. The US, and Canada to a lesser extent, have a great many commercial interests all over the world. Some of these are in regions where the local people might be inclined at some point to arbitrarily and summarily upend the status quo and just take over carefully developed and husbanded resources or simply fail to recognise established rights and contracts. The parties involved in these enterprises are typically very wealthy individuals or groups who support the government officials who keep the military maintained in good condition to enforce proper capitalism across international borders.
As a side benefit, the "military industrial complex" is so deeply entangled in the domestic economy that serious cuts to its budget could spell financial disaster for dozens or hundreds of American communities (the situation is probably less tenuous in Canada).

Ahmed

This is also what I took from it.
It also happens to make more sense than apple showing them the door.
They probably were unable to secure the kind of discounted prices WITH acceptable profit margins to justify the retail space.
Costco wanted to sell the first gen iPad. Apple said no, so Costco booted all the iPods and itunes cards. Oh well, plenty of other places to get Apple gear! I do miss the discounted iTunes cards ($56 for $60 in cards)...

so were there long lines at radio shack ? how much is the apple care pk
Lets say they opened at 7:30. I arrived at 6:45 and there were two people there. There were about 10 by 7:30. So not very big line, but then again I think they only received about two of each model/color, except no 64GB models.

Fair thought - but aren't Apple a Global company with a global product? I would have thought anything local wouldn't impact on a worldwide strategy...but then again...
Apple is primarily an American company and they know that the news cycle will be heavy with Election Results. They can wait until next week and get more bang for the same buck. Europe (Australia, Asia, etc. ) will be just as happy with a Nov. 14 release as Nov. 7.

Heh, what Adobe should do, for video purposes, is try and make something that converts the flash file the user views into a video file when viewed by the user on the iphone. I don't know much about flash but I think it could work. As I think there is always a video file somewhere near that flash file.
But then I don't know. This is based off of what little I know.
Flash video uses a .flv file, which is a shell that houses the avi/mpg/mov/etc. But it's rendered away when it's converted to flv, so technically it no longer exists. You can't really extract it...well you can but that would take more processing power than just playing the flash file.

I'm just glad they are not trying to run this on the 3G. I can barely keep the phone running as it is. I wish they would come out with a throwback OS for the older phones. Something to stop the constant freezing.
Just a few more months, then maybe an Iphone 5 takes away my pain. :D
Ditto. My poor 3G is one step away from being an ipod only... I hate that Apple has essentially bricked that phone. Mine is in great shape, but barely works after the 4.0 update. Retro would be ideal.

I'll wager that Apple didn't use Comic Sans  in their reply note.
I always interpreted it as a handwritten note. I guess we won't know unless the guy post a photo of the actual note (if it in fact exists)...
I find it very disturbing that an adult man would have to ask his wife for permission to buy an iPad, much less return one because she said "No."
C'mon. Has nobody ever done something, only to have someone close to them (like a spouse, a sibling, a friend, ...) call them out on it to say "Hey, you know, given your current situation, maybe that wasn't a wise move"? Has nobody ever taken such advice, thought on it, then concluded "You know what, my friend is right"? Or is everyone truly hung up on this attitude of "I'M the only one who knows what's best for me, so stay outta my face"?

There have been times when I wanted Flash to work on my iPod, but I'm glad Apple is keeping it off there. They just need to keep pushing HTML5 and eventually Flash will die and the internet will miraculously become faster.
