Bach is awesome.
The Beatles are awesome.
Go outside, people.
I agree completely. Is it a crime to actually like both Bach and The Beatles? I must be an aberration or some kind of musical freak, according to certain people in this discussion:D
And it's nice and sunny outside today.
Anyway, good news on the early success of The Beatles- hopefully they can keep selling and laugh in the face of their detractors.

Classic ain't going anywhere until they have product that could replace it. Right now there is nothing in the lineup that is close.
Where have I heard that one before? (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/11/05/apple-discontinues-xserve-only-available-until-january-31st/)

By the way, am I the only person here who thinks Halo Combat Evolved was the best? Halo 3 comes in very close for me.
Halo: CE was great, and was one of my most memorable experiences in games. I'd never been into shooters before playing it, so I didn't go in with any preconceived notions or anything. It was a blast right from the get-go.I liked Halo 3, but not nearly as much as CE, or even ODST for that matter. The writing and story in Halo 3, while great sci-fi, are a bit silly, in my opinion. I liked ODST for the dark, gritty, get-out-alive feel it had. It had a great story, and was very well voice acted as well.
I'm just waiting for UPS to show up with my Legendary version and Reach console, then I will start playing. I'm hearing, from a large number of people who's opinions I respect, that Reach is just slightly below CE in the list of great Halo games. So, it is looking like Bungie went all out, and successfully so, with their last Halo game. I can't wait to dig in.

I don't understand the attitudes of some people. The more places we can purchase an Apple product the better. Just because an item is available at multiple stores does not make it an inferior product.

That would be totally irrelevant.
Except for Apple, they all build the same old PCs. Because they all build the same product, sales can move from one company to another company very, very quickly, as we can see from the enormous growth followed by a very quick fall of Acer. Apple has 9.3%, so the rest has 90.7%. It would be possible with these numbers to have nine companies selling more than Apple. If Apple doubles their share to 18.6%, you still could have four companies selling more than Apple.
Right. My point is that Apple's market share is increasing to to increased sales in PC's rather than other companies' failures. As their percentage increases, the number of companies that could possibly simultaneously have greater market share decreases.
Apple's position in this chart doesn't matter one bit; not even the market share really matters; the thing that matters is how many Macs are sold. If HP takes a few sales away from Toshiba, Apple comes third. But if Acer takes a few sales away from HP instead, Apple comes fifth. What does it matter? (BTW. The IDC report at macobserver shows Apple fourth, with Acer having lost a lot more and coming fifth, not third).
As Apple's sales increase and the sum of the competitions' decrease, Apple's market share has to increase. They can take away from each other but if they are all losing sales then Apple has to go up.
If Apple is selling tons of products, in a market with plenty of competitors, how can they be not competitive? 9.3% of buyers in the USA decided that for their money, a Mac is the best computer they can find.
I see Apple slowly rising to a respectable 15% market share over the next few years. Again, the top market share will likely be below 30% so 15% is very good. 9% is very good. HP may increase market share for a while with decrease overall sales of other windows PC sellers but that won't last. If they break 30% it will be temporary.

Lost in all this is the fact that the iPod is 5 on the 23rd...
Anyone else here even curious if there is a new iPod going to be released on the 5th birthday? I have read through 3 pages of posts and not found anyone offering this thought.
So I will throw it in. :)
New iPod Video (true video widescreen) on the 23rd!

Pros...
#1 Album Artwork. No more Google searches.
#2 Gapless playback. Now i can playback my 70 minute prog rock albums as they were intended
Cons...
#1 Movies 640 by 480? No widescreen or animorphic? forget that! I haven't bought a 4x3 movie since 1998
#2 Still can't burn it. I won't buy anything I can't burn an play in a DVD player. iTV could posibly change my mind. We'll see.
If you'd read Apple's page, it notes that 640x480 could be different depending on the aspect ratio of the file. 640x is what I get from bittorrent normally, so it's not bad.

I'm far less impressed with Apple and particularly its unwillingness to build in the U.S. Their products bear the label "Designed in California" for a simple reason. Their executives care little for this country as a whole and anyone who lives outside a few affluent enclaves on the West and East coasts. And they seem actually proud, inordinately so, of exploiting China's cheap labor. That's why "Designed in California" is followed by "Assembled in China." Snobs and serfs. That's their world.
Apple's unwillingness to build in the US? What company in the US has the manufacturing facilities of Foxconn? I agree it would be great if the devices were produced here, however supply would be much more constrained that it currently is.

Hey, someone predicted the iPhone in that thread:
Obviously, this crowd will only be happy when Apple is giving away kick-ass PDAs for with MP3 record/playback and a built-in world phone for free.

The Beatles: Four guys who needed each other, because individually they were musical infants.
No, thanks.
I'm not going to pretend to be a huge fan, or even a fan. They were before my time, but I think that's a bit of a reach.
I mean, Imagine...not exactly a nursery rhyme.

Did anyone love this quote?
Jobs was equally unconcerned about the prospect of the iPod losing its cool factor as it becomes increasingly ubiquitous.
"That's like saying you don't want to kiss your lover's lips because everyone has lips. It doesn't make any sense," said Jobs.

Anyone have experience with this chair? The price is great and I like the design. Not sure about ergonomics and durability though.
Great reviews on it from another website. Don't know it at the moment, have to do a deeper google search to find it.
I was about to buy it but it went out of stock and whenever it gets back in stock I won't have the money. It makes me plan angry.
At the moment I still don't have this chair but I will sooner or later.

What's fairly obvious is that if ordinary people were in a position to make decisions concerning their community/country/state they would make a far better job than the "expert" economists, legislators, businesspeople and so on who do very well by making a complete balls up of the lives of people in individual countries.

The same washington post blog mentions in the next article that the default ("built-in") wireless cards in the macbook have the same flaw. So this is a bit bigger deal than a few odd people using external cards...
